PRÓXIMO PASADO
The back of the woman walking in the city,
the parked bicycle,
the alleys where people pass by every day,
all the images,
lean peacefully towards that instant
as if it were the place most sought after by them.
The scenes that captivated the photographer’s gaze in her daily life…
Through their opaque texture,
the contemporary scenes appear nostalgic,
and the old ones, alive (current).

THE POWER OF THE INVISIBLE, 2018
Inspired by the mystery of all that is inherent in life and not perceptible through a glance, I photographed what allows me to contemplate the power of its magic.
The essence of nature in its consistent and vigorous expression.
The fantasy of what is unseen and present.
The vibrations in the sound waves.
Silence and emptiness, full of energy.
The power that transfers and commands electrical force.
In this time of great speed and intensity, when we all have to make an effort to stop, it is difficult to perceive what is not in plain sight, but its influence and power are in our choices, which build us and constitute our history and identity.
BRUMA (horizon and clouds in the sky)
The intersection between earth and sky allows me a symbiosis with the environment.
Mendoza is located on the eastern side of the Andes.
Its horizon and sky produce contemplation in me.
CONCRETE (shadow)
The term concrete refers to objects or events that are available to the senses.
The shadow of the sitter is as concrete as the material on the wall that is reflected.
This reflection is an example of our existence beyond the limits of our own body.
VALVE (sound amplifier)
In audio applications, valves remain highly desirable because tube amplifiers produce a “warmer” or more “natural” valve sound.
Discerning the vibrations that music generates is a magical sensation. The distance and all the components that make the sound move cause different dances in the atoms.
ELECTRIC POWER (Selected by the National Endowment for the Arts 2019)
Electrical power is the rate, per unit time, at which electrical energy is transferred through an electrical circuit.
Understanding the order of the wires and seeing how humans need to make tactile what cannot be touched in order to manipulate it is fascinating.
ORCHIDS
Nature, in the broadest sense, is the natural, physical or material world or universe. Although humans are part of nature, human activity is often understood as a separate category from other natural phenomena.
The magic and mystery of a small orchid, its perfection, make me think of the wonder of nature, of its power and intelligence, and of the dialogue that flirts with us in order to discover, value and understand it.
PORTRAITS
In my portraits I want to capture the soul of the sitter. The idea is to generate the sensation of a window and the absence of the portraitist’s presence.
Naturally I try to document intimate feelings in a spontaneous way, with an aesthetic but profound look. That is why it is important for me to create an environment where they feel they are the protagonists of their own image. Generally it is in their place of work or in the performance of some activity that connects them with what they do.
I have made portraits of artists in the fields of acting, music, gastronomy, painting, sculpture, literature and fashion.
I like to show their natural beauty and find in the portraits a look of power and connection with themselves. For me it is very important to connect with their confidence and enhance their personality, from a poetic point of view.
About Geo Bogunovich
I am a photographer and Advertising graduate and my work is a combination of digital and analogue photography methods.
In my analogue photography, the process of developing and copying is handmade with the Fine Art technique. Working with analogue photography in a world of the instantaneous gives me a different sense of time.
Since 2011 I have had several exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Japan and New York; abroad with the H.P. France group.
In 2017 I presented my photography book on Japanese culture entitled Próximo pasado at the National Library of Argentina, with the support of the Embassy of Japan. The same series of photographs were exhibited at the Japanese Garden in Buenos Aires.
In 2018 I was chosen by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes in the Visual Arts Competition.
Linked to the world of fashion, gastronomy and music, I photographed fashion campaigns, portraits, album covers and directed music videos.
All my projects have a poetic look. The idea is to generate a sense of window and the absence of the portraitist’s presence.
Recently I was selected by the Itaú Foundation, in the 12th edition of the Itaú Visual Arts Award.
