CASA SUIZA DE LA BOCA
The Casa Suiza de La Boca is an international artist-in-residence project coordinated by 32 Swiss cities. Since 2014, the institution has been offering three scholarship holders at a time a six-month stay in the neighbourhood of La Boca, just a few metres from the Usina del Arte. Each artist has a living space and an individual studio under one roof and shares the common areas and a terrace with a view of the harbour. Together with sporadic guests, this trio of artists from Switzerland forms a small microcosm in an emblematic house in La Boca. The residents, who come from different disciplines, have to face the challenge of an unfamiliar city and adapt to a new language. The idiosyncrasies of the neighbourhood of La Boca, a different pace of life and a rich cultural life nourish, inspire and often shake the foundations of existence. The scholarship holders are accompanied in this process by a local, interdisciplinary team. The programme includes visits to various workshops and institutions in La Boca, meetings with local curators, exchanges with artists from Buenos Aires and participation in events in the Arts District.
